Halfmark (“the Service”) is operated by Halfmark. By using the Service you agree to these terms. The Service is currently free of charge: every feature is available without an account, and there are no paid features or purchases.

What the Service does

The Service reads payroll and hours files you provide, recomputes Form W-2 box 12 code TT (qualified overtime compensation) per FLSA workweek from that data using the rules described on this website, compares the result with amounts you provide from a payroll provider, summarizes cash tips for code TP and box 14b, and creates worksheets and a method memo you can download. It runs in your browser. It does not prepare, issue, furnish or file Forms W-2 or W-2c, does not connect to payroll providers, and does not decide worker classification, FLSA coverage or exemptions.

Not tax, legal or accounting advice

The Service and the guides on this website are general information and calculation tools only. They are not tax, legal, accounting or payroll advice, and using them does not create a professional relationship. Results depend entirely on the files, mappings and settings you provide. The employer remains responsible for paying overtime correctly and for the accuracy of its Forms W-2, including when a payroll provider prepares them. Review all results with a CPA, tax professional or your payroll provider before entering adjustments or filing.

The rules implemented are based on IRS and Department of Labor sources cited on this website, including IRS FAQs (FS-2026-13). IRS FAQs are not published in the Internal Revenue Bulletin and are not binding law; guidance may change after the date shown on each page. Halfmark is not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by the IRS, the Department of Labor or any other government agency.

Your data

Your payroll data stays in your browser (see the Privacy Policy). We can't see, recover or restore it. You are responsible for having the right to use the employee data you load, for keeping exported files and project files secure, and for meeting your confidentiality obligations.

Trademarks

Gusto, QuickBooks, ADP, OnPay, Toast, Patriot Software and Square are trademarks of their respective owners. Halfmark is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them. Their names are used only to describe file formats the Service may read; Halfmark has not verified their export formats.

Free version credit

The method memo PDF includes a small footer line saying it was prepared with Halfmark.

No warranty; limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including any warranty that results are accurate or complete, to the extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, penalties, interest, or loss of data, revenue or business arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.

Changes

We may change the Service or these terms. The date above shows the latest version.
